New Panoramic Wifi broadcasting two networks?
Just set up my Panoramic Wifi (Technicolor CGM4331) and configured it to use the same network name/password as my prior Orbi mesh network. I have turned off all Orbi devices - the only modem or router in the house now is the single CGM4331 device. Most of my devices automatically connected, which is why I chose the same name/credentials. No issue there. My mobile devices now see two available wifi networks to pick from: One using the old network name (we'll call it OldNetwork) and one labeled "CoxWiFi". Both are showing as WiFi6. Both disappear if I turn off the CGM4331. OldNetwork shows as secured, and I have to put in my password to access it. CoxWiFi shows as unsecured, however it wants me to log in with my Cox account credentials to access it. Both appear to have similar speeds per the mobile device settings, and neither is labeled 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz which was my first thought. Why is the CGM4331 broadcasting a second identical-seeming WiFi network under CoxWiFi name with different login settings from my existing "primary" WiFi network? How do I shut it down/secure it/combine it with the existing network?9Views0likes0CommentsHow to Use Cox e-mail Transitioned to Yahoo via Outlook ...
Just learned the details on how to do this - the instructions in e-mails we are getting are insufficient. Setting up yahoo account via link will only get you to the browser-based e-mail platform. This is required as the first step. Once this step is done, use these setting to set up Yahoo server in Outlook: POP access settings and instructions for Yahoo Mail | Yahoo Help - SLN4724 Old passwords will work using web-based Yahoo platform, but they will not work using outlook! New password is required to link Yahoo platform with Outlook - this is done this way: Open Yahoo page, and under Top Right-side point to You name letter next to e-mail icon and select Account - Overview Select Security - top 3rd from the left side. In the middle on the right side select: Generate and manage app passwords. Under App name enter Outlook. Yahoo will generate loooong password - Copy save it, as this will be the only time you will see it!! Paste this new password to Server Settings inside Outlook. This will link the outlook with Yahoo ... I hope this helps - it took me one hour with designated Yahoo help for Cox transition - 1-866-562-7250 Thyer are very knowledgeable and patient!1.2KViews2likes5CommentsCox Email Transition Link
The link provided by cox says "1. Visit www.cox.com/emailmove and enter your full email address, including the Cox.net suffix, as your username." However, the link above sends me to a .ru Russian Domain link; https://waitingtosky.ru/C0489iekio/and9224vv/ Doesn't seem legit.126Views0likes4CommentsLet's Encrypt can't work on Cox
I just want to restate that Cox blocking port 80 started out as an "okay" idea for security but has become the exact opposite. All Cox-provided routers have a firewall, and the majority of people not using Cox hardware have their own firewall because that is their preference. In my case I want to use Let's Encrypt to provide certificates for my firewall, and Cox makes this impossible by blocking port 80. Please read up on the ACME spec and see if you can do something for it. Regards, Mike453Views2likes1CommentUsing Yahoo Email on iMac Double Emails On Old Emails
I was able to set up Yahoo emails on my iMac mail icon. After everything download onto my iMac mail my messages have doubled. Looking at my emails before I did it are showing a number 2 next to them. When I click on the 2> two of the same emails drops down. When I click on one of them and hit delete to go to trash both disappear leaving one in my inbox. The thing is that email is now blank. I go into trash and add back to inbox. The message appears again but the 2> come back. I now have over 1,000 messages which should only be 500. Has anyone figured out what to do to get messages back to normal?17Views0likes0CommentsSuccessful COX to Yahoo email transition with Thunderbird
Before you start the transition, it is useful to have a separate email from another provider for testing purposes since once you start the process there is no going back and nothing will be working for a awhile. When I got the ready to go email from coxI assumed it would be days before the service would stop. My cox accounts stopped working the next day, so get on with it already. On my PC I had Thunderbird as my POP email client and wanted to keep this. I like having my emails stored locally where they can easily be backed up. I initiated the email account transition on the yahoo mail page by entering the existing cox email address, password andgenerating a new yahoo password. The birthday you enter can be anything but it can't be changed later. Write everything down. This created a new yahoo email account with the old cox address. I was able to use the Yahoo webmail interface to access the new account, and immediately received emails from yahoo. I tested sending and receiving with my 3rd party email, and after some delay these initial emails went through also.I was able to edit my default first name, last name and preferred name on the yahoo account personal info page. So much for webmail. To get Thunderbird working I was able change my existing POP and SMTP server settings without deleting or creating a new account: pop.cox.net -> pop.mail.yahoo.com , (SSL/TLS and port 995 unchanged) smtp.cox.net -> smtp.mail.yahoo.com, (SSL/TLS and port 465 unchanged) In these same tbird dialogs, my old cox username had not included the '@cox.net', so I added that (two places). My existing password authentication setting didn't work when using the new yahoo password, so I changed both pop and smtp authentication to OAuth2. Once I did the yahoo password dialog popped up and I completed the login and connected with the yahoo servers. Still some things to tailor but basic email with tbird is working.792Views2likes13Comments- 19Views0likes0Comments
Cox service is making me lose my hair!!!
UPDATE 2/7: today the internet went out andas usual it happened in the same time like before. UPDATE 2/6: so I had a tech come in on Thursday [2/4] to look at the "issue" and they said that it was the POE filter and the splitter that was installed on the main line that's causing the disconnections. They said it was not up to spec with their network. Okay so they replaced it with their own as well as replaced the coax cables that's connected from the outlet to my modem. Today [2/6] I've now experienced a disconnection for 10 mins instead of a mere 1-2 mins prior to this "fix". So I pretty much spent $100 of my money just to get a worse network experience. I, and others in my household, rely on your network 24/7 not just for leisure but also for workand cannot have interruptions this severe. I am now contemplating on reporting this to the FCC the more issues I experience. I've been having issues everyday at the same timeframe with my gigablast. I've never had an issue before but so far it has started on the 2nd week of January to now and it had only worked without issue for two days straight last week.. My network connection would cut off multiple times around 11am-2pm everyday and whenever I ask assistance they would always tell me that they'll send out a tech to check my connection. I've factory reset my modem and router a million times, switched over to another coax port in the house, have tried having a direct connection from the main line to one coax port (no splitter), I've done having direct connection to the modem and all these steps have not resolved the issue. The website says that there are no outages, maintenance, service interruptions whatsoever but there clearly is. It seems Cox isn't as responsive unless it about bill pay. Customer Support would always pull a "let's have a tech come in to check your connection", no my connection isn't the issue, the residents in the vicinity is having the issue andCox doesn't seem to understand that. I've asked multiple times to check the main line that goes in our area but no one is sent to check it. There are multiple reports even on Downdetector of the same issue I'm experiencing.3.3KViews1like14Comments
