Metairie Louisiana "intermittent interruptions"
Since late Thursday evening, Cox Internet has been down in Metairie Louisiana. As always crews are hard at work trying to solve the issue. It has now been 48 hours of constant downtime. Power is restored. Cell service was never out when not connected to wifi. Cox is still out. No estimated time to restore Internet service. Non-existent customer service. Quite the company you are running. Disgusted and looking at options now. Really have little choice.26Views1like5CommentsCocks can’t keep up with 4k videos on YouTube with 1GB download speed
I’m paying 130$ for YouTube to buffer and lag on 4k videos when no one else is using the internet at home. Worst internet service I have ever had. DONT GET COCKS… oops I mean Cox because they suck it. Losing packets left and right.68Views0likes4CommentsSuccessful Email transition to Yahoo: using Thunderbird on Windows
After spending a good deal of time and effort trying to make Thunderbird get along with Yahoo, I finally figured it out. If you are reading this, you have probably already called Cox only to find out that they have washed their hands of the whole email thing and will only refer you to a phone number for Yahoo. And of course Yahoo is not set up to handle this, so you will wait in the phone queue for half of forever only to find out that they don't know how to set it up either. So in the hope that my experience may help some other poor slob, I present the below instructions, and I hope it helps. I am using the Thunderbird program to access emails on a Windows computer, however I suspect the settings will be the same for anyone using Thunderbird. First, to transfer the emails to Yahoo and establish a webmail account, follow the directions provided by Cox as regurgitated here: "Visit mail.yahoo.com/login and enter your complete cox.net email address, including the Cox.net suffix, as your username. Then enter your current Cox password, and accept the Yahoo Mail Terms of Service. Upon signing in, you’ll set up a new password for your new Yahoo account." Now log out of the Yahoo webmail and open Thunderbird. I have my email accounts and corresponding folders located in a column on the left of the page. Yours may be set up differently, but mine is the default and I will base detailed instructions on that. Go to the left column and click on the line that shows your complete cox email address. If you have multiple addresses, you will need to perform the following instructions for each of them. Now look to the top right of the new page and click on "account settings". At the bottom of the settings page is the line "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", and at the far right of that line is a box that says "Edit SMTP server"; click on it. A pop-up window will open, adjust the settings as shown below: Description: COX Server Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port: 465 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: OAuth2 User Name: your user name, duh click OK Now go back to the left hand column and click on "Server Settings". On this page the settings will be as follows: Server Name: imap.mail.yahoo.com Port: 993 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2 Now close Thunderbird and reopen it. You will now be asked for a password for each of your email addresses. Use the new password that you used to set up the Yahoo webmail. Congratulations you have mail! If you want to use POP instead of IMAP I suggest you first set it up with IMAP and then go back and change the setting after you know it is working.2.7KViews3likes36CommentsCAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME
what a fricking nightmare... I have been battling with cox for five SIX days now trying to get someone to help me with getting my email working to where I can consistently send and receive messages. So I have been told that I cant use my outlook and I will have to use webmail until they transition to Yahoo. Next thing I know I cant even send and receive on webmail. Yet Cox wont take responsibility. They keep telling me to change my password yet Yahoo doesn't even recognize my email address. I had one of the 6 or 7 people at Cox I chatted with tell me I hadn't even transitioned yet and that I needed to keep using Webmail in the meantime. They helped me get my webmail to where I was receiving mail again but when I went to try to send, no luck sending. So I once again reached out to another Cox rep, they like most before HE said it was a Yahoo issue and I needed to get with Yahoo. HONESTLY I DON'T KNOW HOW YAHOO IS GOING TO HELP WITH AN EMAIL THEY DON'T EVEN RECOGNIZE. So, the only Yahoo phone number I could find amongst Cox support materials, that wasn't a premuim support $12.99/mo cost, was this phone number, 1-866-562-7450. GUESS WHAT - THIS NUMBER IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE!!! HOW THE HECK AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE THIS WORK. I am in a semi rural area and my internet options are very limited AND COX KNOWS THIS. NO COMPETION IS HOW COX HAS GOTTEN BY WITH TREATING THEIR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS FOR YEARS.40Views0likes1CommentMissing email after yahoo transition
I moved my primary account to yahoo when I got the time to move email. I had no issues. A few days later I got the time to move email then I moved my secondary cox account to yahoo email and now the last two days emails are there and then goes to January 2021. Everything in between is missing. Anyone else have this issue? If so, what was the fix? Thanks in advance Don.34Views0likes1Comment- 4Views0likes0Comments
Custome Service
I wanted to reiterate that I had an awful experience through the moving process with cox. Until I talked to Edward tonight after talking to a not so kind representative, I was ready to switch to AT&T internet by tomorrow morning.. Edward not only listened and had that customer care that’s needed with issues (I was in customer service for years) but he also transferred me to Bob to get a solution. Prior to that, the first rep told me I could wait until Monday for my internet to be connected (which I thought was handled TWICE before) or I could go to a store and try tomorrow but most likely would have to wait until Monday… I moved into my first house and have a house warming and Thunder basketball watch party tomorrow - I called about my move on 4/8/24 to disconnect at previous residence and transfer to current residence on 4/25. I saw on my app on 5/14/24 that my previous address was still my service address so I reached out again. After 10pm tonight my internet shut off.. I called and, again, the first customer service rep was rude and dismissive and his best suggestion when I asked to talk to someone else in customer service, not even a manager- just someone else, he said well you can just call back. So I hung up and called back - he was just beyond rude and it came off like he was making fun of and/or mocking me with my issue which I didn’t appreciate. I just wanted a SOLUTION before people came over from out of town and out of state early tomorrow afternoon. If it wasn’t for Edward and Bob, I would have transferred to AT&T internet service by tomorrow morning. I was looking it up while trying to talk to the first representative. Edward and Bob are the people who keep your customers, can’t brag enough on them for their exceptional customer service, understanding and kindness (also patience explaining my dilemma and previous call). I asked them if I could do any survey / appreciative survey and they were just happy to help. They’re great assets to your team and deserve a THANK YOU SO MUCH shout out Thank you, Cortni Sanders18Views0likes2Comments
