Cox/Yahoo email conversion
My experience in the conversion has been a frustrating one. I followed all instructions but it did not work for me, apparently because i was using a Mac. Yahoo support was helpful and we figured it out. However, I get all my emails in Outlook and despite following all instructions on setting that up, i'm not getting the same emails over and over, after deleting them. Just this morning I deleted several emails and every time i refresh my outlook, they show up again. Any idea what is happening and how to solve it? thank you387Views0likes13Comments- 6Views0likes1Comment
Iphone vs Mac Mail app
I did the yahoo transition for my mom's account and it was very simple on the iPhone. But why is it that we have to do a 25 step transition put together by some very thoughtful and helpful members here? Is it because cox or yahoo didn't dedicate enough resources to Mac Mail? I'm just trying to understand this part of it. It used to be that you'd just add the email, password, imap address etc, and all would be well.17Views0likes1CommentGmail POP-ing cox.net worked, now with yahoo hosting it doesn't
I posted to another message that was marked "SOLVED". Not sure what it was marked solved as I see people are having issues. I use gmail and before this transition used POP to pull my cox.net email into my gmail. My cox.net account has been transferred to Yahoo. I logged into Yahoo's webmail using Cox.net and see current email there. The POP settings for Yahoo are not working. here are the settings and error message. This stuff is not rocket science. This is most likely poor planning and no testing. I knew I should have gotten away from cox.net email a loooonnng time ago354Views2likes21CommentsHardware upgrade REALLY needed?
Good evening everyone. I currently have a Netgear C1000v2 on a 1GB plan. My current WiFi speeds are 465.2/115.5 according to Cox's Speed Test website. This is on both WiFi *and* Wired Connection directly in to the modem for testing. I was having some speed issues the last few months and finally "chatted" with the sales guy at Tech Support. He started telling me that my modem is old and the only way for me to get their truly advertised speeds is to upgrade to the Panoramic WiFi, which we all know is incorrect. The Tech Support Sales Guy also told me that they can't understand why I am not even getting 500MB on my 1GB plan, as it is 100% definitely a problem with my equipment. Even though they can't send any warm or cold hits to my modem from the Head-End, or communicate with it, but upgrading to the 2GB plan will solve all my problems. So here's my question. Before the tech got here, I went and purchased an Arris S33 just in case. However, after him finding a bad ground block in the OPB, he said everything looked good and reverted back to my Netgear and stated it is running fine. My question is this. I noticed some differences in the configuration screens of both modems, so I was curious if anyone knew what benefit I would get by actually keeping the S33 and staying on the 1GB plan (for now), and if I do decide to upgrade, what benefit one would give me over the other. Config screen(s) from the Netgear C1000v2: Upstream Channels: Now, config of the Arris S33: And the Upstream Channels: I notice the S33 has more Downstream and Upstream channels, but don't know if that really means anything to the standard, regular daily usage. The tech also had the problem today of not being able to do anything from the Head-End with the modem before he replaced the problem. Once he did that, he was then able to send warm and cold hits to the modem no problem according to him. My girlfriend and I both work from home and are in IT. She is on Zoom / Teams calls quite a bit, and I am on Teams calls a bit and VPN (sometimes numerous VPN's) 100% of my day. Thanks everyone!54Views0likes3CommentsNo internet since Saturday
You can't get a real person on the phone, then I talk and trouble shoot my Internet for no kidding 2 hours. MY MODEM IS OUT. light turns yellow, and goes off in about a minute. First they told me .. all is fine, no service interruptions in your area. I had to use my hot spot to do my work. Then I finally get a person on the phone ON MONDAY. and they tell me there is a service interruptions in your area... All my neighbors have internet. My modem is out. They say let us come to your home .. with a window of time.. sure. I can miss a day work for that! I can to cancel my service, as I have figured out.. I can just use my hotspot and Verizon is in my area now. I want the guy I talked to just now to know, it's not him I'm mad at. It's COX. HE HUNG UP ON ME. And I feel bad, I am frustrated. I have paid so much money these years. I think they need to realize that they need to up their game and keep us in service, as there are other services to have now, cheaper than Cox. That's my complaint. And I'm sorry for anyone today going through this. It's awful and causes high anxiety, when we rely on our Internet for so much.17Views0likes2CommentsCox Courtesy Credit for going over Data Allotment
On data meter page it says: ($) Courtesy credit: You have 1 courtesy credit to exceed monthly data usage without charges. Tooltip: Cox will waive overage charges for the first month you go over your data plan What does it entail? Does it only pay the first first $10 only? Or does it cover all of the overages for that cycle? So if I go over by 150GB, do I pay $0 or do I pay $20 ($10 free for the first overage, then pay rest)29Views0likes1CommentNot getting the speed I pay for!
I've had COX for about half a year and right off the bat I gotta say it was way too overpriced. But the price is not even the real issue. I pay for 1GB for download speed and 100mbps for upload, but when I run a speed test, I seem to only get about 1mbps for download speed. It's beyond ridiculous. Troubleshooting or resetting solves the issue for about 2 minutes, but then I'm right back to the problem. Every time I call for help, they can never seem to tell me what the problem is, even after sending a tech. As a casual gamer, I work all week and look forward to relaxing on the weekend and enjoying some games and entertainment online but this issue seems to peak when I want to enjoy some quality time at home. It sucks to know that when my monthly bill comes around, I'm being robbed every month from this company for not fulfilling the service I pay for. Is anyone else experiencing these issues?52Views0likes1Comment
