smtp.cox.net outgoing server not working
I just transitioned my Cox email to Yahoo! and it seems to have worked. However, I use the Mail application on my MacBook Pro, and I can no longer send mail through any of my email addresses (Gmail, Yahoo). It seems as this transition screwed up my outgoing server settings. What should the incoming AND outgoing server settings be? Thanks so much!Solved58Views0likes3CommentsConnected devices not showing up on Cox wifi app or the Panoramic Gateway website
I'm trying to check the connection strength for my Samsung television because I'm having a problem with buffering and audio not syncing with a speaker's lips. The Cox wifi app shows many of my devices as unconnected to my wifi network even though they are connected. Similarly, under Connected Devices on the website for my Panoramic Gateway, many of my devices, such as my television, printers, and laptops, show as unconnected when they are in fact connected. Is there anything I can do to have these devices show as connected on the wifi app and the Gateway website? Thanks for your assistance.22Views0likes1CommentMotorola MB8611 connection drops frequently
Hello All, I've been using a Motorola MB8611 cable modem for about 6 months. It's been very reliable and hardly ever drops the connection. Over the past week my modem is rebooting a few times a day. Today it's been rebooting every 20 min. I made a call to Cox to check out the line. I asked the agent in tech support about outages. I was told there were no outages in my area. About two weeks ago Cox did an upgrade in my area. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it? Could a version of firmware been downloaded to the modem and now it's not compatible? I'm not able to view the firmware. I can't seem to connect to the modem. My modem is connected to a WiFi router. By the way, this is my modem. I did confirm that it works with Cox before purchasing. Cox activated it without issues. Any thoughts? suggestions? Thank in advance.18Views0likes4CommentsOutages
What is going on with all these outages? In the last 30 days, we've had 2 multiple hour outages that have made it impossible for me to work. And now another one today?? We were out of service for 2 days last summer for an "upgrade" that was supposed to prevent the service interruptions, looks like that didn't work. I pay an obscene monthly bill to have such unreliable service. My supervisor is starting to question that there could seriously be such a terrible internet provider. Inevitable questions: Workplace security prevents me logging in on a hotspot. I work remotely for a California company, can't just run to the office.15Views0likes1CommentYahoo server settings? Smtp/pop etc
After an experience I can only liken to a tooth extraction without novacaine I'm signed into Yahoo mail. Small victories. But now I need to configure my apps to deal with Yahoo - smtp, pop, whatever. I use Thunderbird on my PC platforms, and BlueMail on my various devices. (would assume the settings are the same for all, but just to be safe...) This trip to the dentist isn't done until I have restored access across my various stuff. Little help, here?72Views1like2CommentsCox Hot Spot running off my modem
Cox is using my Cox rented modem/router as a hot spot for anyone who parks by my house. I went to Privacy Preferences and Disabled Hotspot but it still shows up. It is an unprotected network using my subscription, my electricity to run their "free" spots. I now have a homeless man living his car in front of my house - I think because of this wifi (he is on the phone all the time). He comes in his car at 8pm and leaves at 9am. I called Cox and they said all their boxes have this. They told me to just turn it off when he is around. So I pay and get no service from 8pm onwards. The only solution is to buy your own router which i will do. Or better yet, switch to another service which i guess in my area will be Frontier. This in my opinion, is unsafe for the public and is basically making me pay for services to other people - theft. Cox is the worst I am writing this here to warn other people. Also Cox told me that is the only way to lodge a complaint.Solved134Views0likes8CommentsCompetitive pricing and high-speed offering
Hello Cox Community, I am a resident of Gainesville, Florida, and I’ve noticed that Pavlov Media is offering a 1 Gbps fiber internet service for $69. This has caught my attention and likely that of other community members due to its competitive pricing and high-speed offering. Given this development, I am curious to know if Cox Cable has any plans to offer similar or competitive pricing and speed upgrades for our area. Many of us are interested in understanding whether Cox is looking to enhance its service to match or exceed the value proposition presented by Pavlov Media. It would be great to get some insights into any upcoming plans that might benefit customers in our region who are seeking faster internet speeds at a reasonable price point. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Best regards, Daniel S24Views0likes2CommentsFor MAC users with Outlook 365 that want to transition from COX to Yahoo email
Below are a set of repeatable instructions for the transition from COX.net to yahoo.com email MS OUTLOOK 365 migration on MacBook; open Outlook Outlook > settings > personal settings/accounts Click “+” to add account lower left corner Enter Email address username@cox.net Click Continue Select “not IMAP?” in upper right corner and select “Y! Yahoo” Select “Sync to the Microsoft Cloud” by pressing “Continue” Log into Yahoo with email account & regular password ( and prove you are not a robot) Click “Agree”, if you agree Add a verification option if requested by Yahoo Access for MS Outlook > agree Select profile in MS Outlook if asked It isn’t working until you get a grayed out “Microsoft Sync technology” under the email address in the “accounts” settings (not sure why) This has now worked repeatably for me with 9 Cox email accounts5Views0likes0CommentsHow to Use Cox e-mail Transitioned to Yahoo via Outlook ...
Just learned the details on how to do this - the instructions in e-mails we are getting are insufficient. Setting up yahoo account via link will only get you to the browser-based e-mail platform. This is required as the first step. Once this step is done, use these setting to set up Yahoo server in Outlook: POP access settings and instructions for Yahoo Mail | Yahoo Help - SLN4724 Old passwords will work using web-based Yahoo platform, but they will not work using outlook! New password is required to link Yahoo platform with Outlook - this is done this way: Open Yahoo page, and under Top Right-side point to You name letter next to e-mail icon and select Account - Overview Select Security - top 3rd from the left side. In the middle on the right side select: Generate and manage app passwords. Under App name enter Outlook. Yahoo will generate loooong password - Copy save it, as this will be the only time you will see it!! Paste this new password to Server Settings inside Outlook. This will link the outlook with Yahoo ... I hope this helps - it took me one hour with designated Yahoo help for Cox transition - 1-866-562-7250 Thyer are very knowledgeable and patient!1.6KViews2likes8Comments
