E-mail Transition Failure
Since my e-mail has transitioned to Yahoo, I am losing e-mails. E-mails that I have been getting forever are no longer getting delivered, or very sporadic. See below for examples of e-mail concerns. E-mails from Amazon when placing orders; sometimes they get to me, but most of the time not being delivered E-mails from Generac when the generator operates; same as above for Amazon E-mails from friends; one friend sent me an e-mail 5 times before it was ever delivered I try to call Yahoo and all I get is a recording saying there is an extremely long wait an to try calling at a different time. It does let you hang on, but I final gave up after 2 hours. This is totally ridiculous.0Views0likes0CommentsSERVICE INTERRUPTION
There has been "maintenence" in my area for exactly 14 days now so we can't use our wifi. I work from home half the time and while I understand these things have to happen, I have NEVER had an outage for 2 weeks with absolutely no answers or anything to go off of. The store doesn't know what's going on and support says they have no information on this. I NEED more than that. I think we all deserve an answer.93Views0likes5CommentsCannot Send Mail
What happened to the instructions that were supposed to arrive once the transition to Yahoo happened? I can send emails from Windows 10 desktop using the Cox webmail address: https://www.cox.com/content/dam/cox/okta/mail.html However I can't send email using the Mail app on my iPhone or iPad. I get this message: "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.cox.net" failed. Additional outgoing Mail Servers can be configured for Mail accounts in Settings > Mail > Accounts>" How can I determine if I am in "transition" or some other problem?323Views3likes19CommentsArris SB8200 Questions
Today I upgraded to the Arris SB8200 modem and when I have the coax cable plugged into the modem I cannot access the web gui using the standard http://192.168.100.1/. Also I noticed that all my lights are green and none are blue for bonded channel. How long does it take for the channels to bond and why can I not access the gui when connected to the coax network?147Views0likes12CommentsTuning Adapter (High-Split) Converter Problem
I have a TV ROAMIO that has been used without problems with a tuning adapter for 9 years. A few months ago I was sent a new High Split Converter (HSC-1-H) and I installed it and it worked without issue for 2 months. At 2 am a week ago, I could not receive any channels. When I unplugged the HSC tuning adapter - everything returned to normal. I replaced the Cable Card - no effect A COX tech spent 2 hours in my house and was unable to find the problem. He verified that all my wiring, splitters, and signals to the unit were fine. He replaced all the cable and splitters. I replaced with TIVO with a new ROAMIO - No change - Nothing will work once I plug in the Tuning Adapter. COX sent me a new Tuning Adapter (HSC) and everything worked for about 24 hours - then, once again at 2 am - the problem returned. No channels unless I unplug the tuning adapter. I have changed all the USB cables, twice, changed every component in the system, twice, and watched the COX tech work on the problem for 2 hours - Nothing. I have an open support ticket, but no one ever updates the status. Any suggestions? Firmware updates?584Views1like40CommentsProblems with Email on Yahoo
I managed to complete the conversion to Yahoo (simple login and setting new password). Eventually I got it on my iPhone (had to add as a new account rather than change settings from cox.net servers). Then I got it to work for Thunderbird (missing clue in instructions was to use OAuth2). And I have used both the Yahoo email app for iPhone, and the web interface on my desktop. A few test emails from one account (I have 3) to the others, and it's looking pretty good. Then, I sent from gmail. Sometimes it never arrives, sometimes it goes to the Inbox, and sometimes it goes to Junk (iPhone mail) or Spam (Yahoo app) but nowhere on Thunderbird. A friend sent 2 emails from gmail, 1 to just 1 of my "new" cox.net accounts and it went to junk/spam. He sent the 2nd to all 3 "new" cox.net accounts it was fine. I had an important email sent to me (with a time limit, from the government!) this afternoon and it never showed up. Ideas? I looked for any filters, but gmail? ftb.ca.gov? Yahoo seems to want $5/month if you want to talk to them. Not happy at this point and may start the painful transition to gmail or other service. Or am I missing something?366Views1like7CommentsOnly IPv4 after modem upgrade (IPv6)
Hello, Today I upgrade my modem from a Cisco DPC3010 to an Arris S33. I had to chat with Cox support to register the new modem. After they registered the modem, Internet started working only for IPv6 addresses. IPv4 addresses were not routed to the Internet. The customer support representative only recommended to clear the cookies, and did not know what else to do apart from sending a technician. I could not wait for a technician to come, so I asked them to re-register the old modem. With the old modem it was again working in both IPv4 and IPv6. Any recommendation about how to fix this? Try again? Thanks, Ludovico48Views0likes5CommentsCox email switch to Yahoo disaster
I have spent the entire morning, plus 3 phone calls, re "EMAIL transition". I have Outlook Cox email needing transition to Yahoo. Online discussions/Reddit, etc. states Yahoo does not accept Outlook transition. I also see some customers after much time/effort were able to do this. Customer service could not complete transition to Yahoo from Outlook (rep did try with no success), but suggested for $10 mo for Cox Help they could help me. This is the LAST STRAW....I have been a customer of Cox for 30 years with many ups/downs.....however, this EMAIL TRANSITION is a disaster. I can now only access my email thru the Cox email web; Outlook email does not work at all. I will be changing all services including internet, cable, phone, email @ $235 monthly bill ASAP.944Views3likes19CommentsHow to Use Cox e-mail Transitioned to Yahoo via Outlook ...
Just learned the details on how to do this - the instructions in e-mails we are getting are insufficient. Setting up yahoo account via link will only get you to the browser-based e-mail platform. This is required as the first step. Once this step is done, use these setting to set up Yahoo server in Outlook: POP access settings and instructions for Yahoo Mail | Yahoo Help - SLN4724 Old passwords will work using web-based Yahoo platform, but they will not work using outlook! New password is required to link Yahoo platform with Outlook - this is done this way: Open Yahoo page, and under Top Right-side point to You name letter next to e-mail icon and select Account - Overview Select Security - top 3rd from the left side. In the middle on the right side select: Generate and manage app passwords. Under App name enter Outlook. Yahoo will generate loooong password - Copy save it, as this will be the only time you will see it!! Paste this new password to Server Settings inside Outlook. This will link the outlook with Yahoo ... I hope this helps - it took me one hour with designated Yahoo help for Cox transition - 1-866-562-7250 Thyer are very knowledgeable and patient!175Views1like2CommentsWhat is with all the downtime lately?
What is the deal with the constant downtime we are seeing? Almost every day now, sometimes multiple times a day (I think the other day there were 3 planned downtime events). I only know they are planned because when I call into Cox, the automated message informs me of planned upgrades in my area currently going on. The frustration with this is that it also occurs at times during the day when I am working remotely. I also receive no notification at all about planned downtime and there is a consistent lack of customer notifications on the part of Cox and not keeping them in the loop about downtime especially during daily working hours. I am often in the middle of something only to find out my internet shut off. I have no problem with upgrades, I get it, but it is an absolute nuisance with the number of upgrades occurring right now, the frequency they are occurring at, the time frame they are occurring, and the lack of notifications to customers so that we (as customers) can plan our days around them.190Views1like11Comments
