Cox/Yahoo email conversion
My experience in the conversion has been a frustrating one. I followed all instructions but it did not work for me, apparently because i was using a Mac. Yahoo support was helpful and we figured it out. However, I get all my emails in Outlook and despite following all instructions on setting that up, i'm not getting the same emails over and over, after deleting them. Just this morning I deleted several emails and every time i refresh my outlook, they show up again. Any idea what is happening and how to solve it? thank you304Views0likes5CommentsMy Cox-->Yahoo-->Outlook journey
I see lots of posted problems with this email transition problem and I wrestled with it for a couple days. I had no problem setting moving Cox-->Yahoo and getting email on the Yahoo website but I wanted to use my desktop Outlook program as I always have. Trying to just change the incoming and outgoing servers in Outlook wasn't working - just gave an unhelpful failure response. Maybe this could work easily if you use the "trick" I mention below. This morning I called Cox support, was on hold for ~15min before reaching a quite helpful woman who almost succeeded. Key things from her: in Outlook: File-->account settings-->account settings-->remove existing account (this will "re-populate" from your working Yahoo account when your done), account settings-->new enter your email address (the one you just deleted) and a password. She said to use the Yahoo email PW which doesn't seem to make sense since you haven't pointed to the Yahoo server yet. But after the next error message you get to enter the server information (as widely disseminated this is imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com). We tried this many times (including reboots) but it never worked. Always got the error message. She kicked me "up" to a guy who knew less but told me to go to Yahoo support and gave me a phone #. Yahoo answered immediately, went into remote control of my computer and did the same steps but with one difference: they used a password generated for my Outlook by Yahoo. (This is commonly discussed in support forums and I'd already made one but hadn't used it here.) Anyway he deleted mine, made a new one, and used that PW when connecting to imap.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com. That worked, that was the difference. If my first Cox support person had realized this we'd have saved a couple hours.49Views1like2CommentsGmail POP-ing cox.net worked, now with yahoo hosting it doesn't
I posted to another message that was marked "SOLVED". Not sure what it was marked solved as I see people are having issues. I use gmail and before this transition used POP to pull my cox.net email into my gmail. My cox.net account has been transferred to Yahoo. I logged into Yahoo's webmail using Cox.net and see current email there. The POP settings for Yahoo are not working. here are the settings and error message. This stuff is not rocket science. This is most likely poor planning and no testing. I knew I should have gotten away from cox.net email a loooonnng time ago278Views1like8CommentsUsing Yahoo email in Mac OS mail app
I have created my Yahoo account in my Mac OS mail, but I can't seem to bring it online-attempts to change it from offline to online are futile. Anyone with a Mac able to help? I tried Yahoo chat, the AI bot is useless and if I want help from Yahoo I have to pay. I can't stand Yahoo in the browser. I can't see the text very well b/c my eyes are old now. The ads are annoying and I will drop Cox before I pay for Yahoo premium. We were looking for a reason to switch to the new Verizon 5g box. Might be now. Thank you in advance.Solved10KViews7likes99CommentsMissing email after yahoo transition
I moved my primary account to yahoo when I got the time to move email. I had no issues. A few days later I got the time to move email then I moved my secondary cox account to yahoo email and now the last two days emails are there and then goes to January 2021. Everything in between is missing. Anyone else have this issue? If so, what was the fix? Thanks in advance Don.12Views0likes0CommentsCustome Service
I wanted to reiterate that I had an awful experience through the moving process with cox. Until I talked to Edward tonight after talking to a not so kind representative, I was ready to switch to AT&T internet by tomorrow morning.. Edward not only listened and had that customer care that’s needed with issues (I was in customer service for years) but he also transferred me to Bob to get a solution. Prior to that, the first rep told me I could wait until Monday for my internet to be connected (which I thought was handled TWICE before) or I could go to a store and try tomorrow but most likely would have to wait until Monday… I moved into my first house and have a house warming and Thunder basketball watch party tomorrow - I called about my move on 4/8/24 to disconnect at previous residence and transfer to current residence on 4/25. I saw on my app on 5/14/24 that my previous address was still my service address so I reached out again. After 10pm tonight my internet shut off.. I called and, again, the first customer service rep was rude and dismissive and his best suggestion when I asked to talk to someone else in customer service, not even a manager- just someone else, he said well you can just call back. So I hung up and called back - he was just beyond rude and it came off like he was making fun of and/or mocking me with my issue which I didn’t appreciate. I just wanted a SOLUTION before people came over from out of town and out of state early tomorrow afternoon. If it wasn’t for Edward and Bob, I would have transferred to AT&T internet service by tomorrow morning. I was looking it up while trying to talk to the first representative. Edward and Bob are the people who keep your customers, can’t brag enough on them for their exceptional customer service, understanding and kindness (also patience explaining my dilemma and previous call). I asked them if I could do any survey / appreciative survey and they were just happy to help. They’re great assets to your team and deserve a THANK YOU SO MUCH shout out Thank you, Cortni Sanders13Views0likes1Comment
