ATLANTA – The promotion of Doug Garrett to Regional Vice President, Regulatory Affairs – Western Region for Cox Communications Inc. was announced today by Jennifer Hightower, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.
In his new role, Garrett will manage the regulatory affairs for Cox's Western Division. He will be an advocate for Cox operations to various Western state commissions and manage issues particular to each. He also will oversee regulatory compliance and adherence for all Cox systems in the Western Division, as well as Nebraska, Iowa and Idaho.
In making this announcement, Hightower said, "Doug has an excellent understanding of the various state regulatory and legislative issues and how they interplay with our systems' business objectives. He is an excellent choice to lead our regulatory efforts in the Western Division."
Garrett has more than 20 years of telecommunications experience, including network operations, marketing, customer provisioning and interconnection and regulatory affairs. Prior to joining Cox, he worked at Pacific Bell/SBC as well as two smaller competitive local exchange carriers.
A graduate of St. Mary's College of California, Garrett holds a bachelor's degree in management.
