ATLANTA, GA - In its sixth successful year of empirically and objectively demonstrating corporate-diversity success, the 2006 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list was released today. Cox Communications ranked no. 32 in its first year on the list and also was ranked no. 3 on the list of the Top 10 Companies for African Americans.
A total of 256 companies competed for a spot on the highly coveted list for the business publication, representing a 100 percent increase over the last three years. The list of winners was announced today on www.DiversityInc.com, and a more detailed analysis of the winners and the results will be featured in the June issue of DiversityInc magazine. New this year was the requirement that companies on The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list demonstrate consistent strength in the four areas the survey measures. Also, more weight was given to CEO Commitment, the most crucial of the four areas measured; the others are Human Capital, Corporate Communications and Supplier Diversity.
"Cox Communications' commitment to diversity starts at the top and extends to all aspects of its business," said Luke Visconti, partner and cofounder of DiversityInc. "As a Top 50 company, Cox has demonstrated strong, unbiased recruitment and retention, as well as excellence in communications and supplier diversity."
"We are delighted that Cox's commitment to diversity has been recognized by DiversityInc," said Cox Communications President Pat Esser. "At Cox, diversity is a critical part of our culture, values and operations. We take a comprehensive approach to diversity, ensuring we are inclusive in hiring and retaining employees, but also in our supplier relationships, community outreach and the products and services we offer."
