The Cable Center Receives $2 Million Endowment from the James M. Cox Foundation and Cox Communications
Creates Groundbreaking Academic Initiative in Customer Experience
Denver, CO

Denver, Colorado - The Cable Center, a global resource of information, training, and educational programs about and for the cable telecommunications industry, today announced that funding for its previously announced two million dollar endowment from the James M. Cox Foundation and Cox Communications is now complete. Funds from the endowment will be used to create the Cox Customer Experience Initiative, which will provide graduate-level curriculum focused on the study and teaching of customer care, to be applicable to all industries. The endowment works to strengthen Cox Communications longstanding commitment to customer service, and enables both The Cable Center and Cox to take this commitment to the next level in to the future by developing leaders of this unique, critical strategic discipline.

"We are honored that the James M. Cox Foundation and Cox Communications have established this important endowment with The Cable Center," said Larry Satkowiak, President and Chief Operating Officer of The Cable Center. "Cox Communications, long ranked as cable's top customer service provider by J.D. Power and Associates, joins The Cable Center in recognizing the need for better service, not only for our industry's customers, but for customers of all industries. The generous funding of this program by the James M. Cox Foundation and Cox Communications is a visionary step toward ultimately creating more companies with a customer-focused culture and a better trained workforce."

"Because customer care is central to the Cox Communications philosophy, we are eager to extend this vital initiative to the academic sector," said Claus Kroeger, Senior Vice President of Operations at Cox Communications. "It is imperative that customer experience skills are taught to MBA-level business students, who are the upcoming generation of leaders in the cable industry as well as other industries. A well-prepared base of business graduates educated in customer care is of enormous value to businesses everywhere."

The Cable Center is developing the Cox Customer Experience Initiative in partnership with the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. Both organizations are working together to appoint the James M. Cox Chair in Customer Care and to build curriculum that will comprise a customer care concentration in the MBA program at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. The Cable Center is also developing a comprehensive customer care-related collection of books, dissertations, white papers and other documents at its Barco Library to supplement research and curriculum development. The first class in the curriculum will be taught during the fall quarter of 2006.
