Cox Gives More Speed To Its Premier High Speed Internet Customers In Select Markets
Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA – Cox Communications announced today that it has increased the speed of its fastest Cox High Speed Internet package at no additional charge for customers in Cleveland, OH, Kansas, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK, as well as Orange County and San Diego, CA. Cox High Speed Internet customers that subscribe to the Premier package in these markets can now enjoy speeds up to 9 Mbps downstream and up to 1 Mbps upstream, a download speed up to 80% faster than before the upgrade.

These speed increases underscore Cox's commitment to providing the best high-speed Internet value in the broadband marketplace and the capabilities of Cox's robust cable network. Earlier this year, Cox also increased data speeds in its Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Nebraska, Rhode Island and Virginia markets.

"Cox continually evaluates our services and features to ensure that we deliver what is most important to our customers. Speed is incredibly valuable to customers that subscribe to our Premier Internet package, and now they can benefit immediately from the increase," said Steve Gorman, Cox's vice president of marketing & management for Cox High Speed Internet. "The speed upgrade was automatic, and yet another reason why it's easy to have Cox as your high-speed Internet provider."

The Premier package is ideal for users that often download large files, avid gamers and households with multiple computers sharing one Internet connection. The Premier package is available to bundled customers for $54.95 a month. The new Premier package is more than twice as fast as Cox's Preferred service, for only about $15 more per month. In addition to a price discount, bundled customers also enjoy the convenience of a consolidated billing option and local customer support when subscribing to more than one Cox service.

Cox offers three Internet packages-Premier, Preferred and Value-with varying speeds and prices to best meet the needs of all of its customers. Cox's Preferred Internet package is designed for Web surfing, quickly downloading pictures, music and movies. Cox's Value package generally appeals to customers looking for basic web surfing. All three packages include WebMail, enabling easy access to email from any Internet connection, Personal WebSpace for storing files and sharing pictures, and Cox's free Security Suite to protect PC's and personal data, including anti-virus, parental controls, anti-spyware, spam-blocker, firewall and pop-up blocker.
