ATLANTA-Cox Communications, Inc. (NYSE: COX), today announced the winners of the company's Impact Awards. The awards are presented annually and recognize Public Affairs programs from throughout the company that significantly impact Cox's operational and financial success. A panel of company and industry leaders judges entries and awards winners in nine categories. Additionally, the awards recognize a Public Affairs Professional of the Year and a Public Affairs Champion of the Year.

Scott Petre, Jay Allbaugh, Sara Kauffman and Kristin Peck of Cox's Wichita, Kan. system win the Education award for their school outreach program, "Kids to WANS," which provides more than 8,500 computers to 17 school districts where more than 36,000 students are enrolled. The "Kids to WANS" project also wins the Dick Waterman Impact Award, which recognizes the year's best overall program at delivering significant, far-reaching and long-lasting impact on Cox's operational and financial success.
Government Relations
Ivan Johnson, Kevin Moran, Susan Anable, Andrea Katsenes, Dan Newham and Jamie Boyett of Cox's Arizona system win the Government Relations award for their work to secure franchise agreements that addressed customer interests and competitive realities facing cable companies.

Mike Kohler, Gordon Krentz, Kelly Sare of Cox's Omaha system win the Community Relations award for "Cox Connects Kids," an outreach program that provided computer access to 600 underprivileged children.
Employee Communications
Frank Bowers, Thom Prevette, Ken Cunningham, Gregg Peterman and Ann Lester of Cox's Hampton Roads, Va. system win the Employee Communications award for their efforts during Hurricane Isabel, which helped maintain employee morale through continuous communications and updates.

Greg Geopforth, Dave Kranda, Christine Suto, Marcia Cady, Brian Ortner, and Mike Kohler of Cox's Omaha, Neb., system win a Local Programming award for their public affairs show "After the Bell," which highlights extracurricular activities and the students and teachers who make them possible.

Tiffani Bruton, John Bowen, Randi Carson, Doug Dobbs, Pamela Gutel, Mike Lowe, Carlton Williams, Jeff Turner, Keith Huffman and Kathy Martin of Cox's Oklahoma system win the Integration award for "Cox Fill the Vans," a community outreach program that contributed three tons of food for area food banks.
Media Relations
Steve Schorr, Stephanie Stallworth, Susie Black, Samantha Kardos of Cox's Las Vegas, Nev. system win the Media Relations award for the dedication ceremony of the company's new headquarters.
Public Affairs Champion of the Year
Herb Dougall of Cox's Arizona system receives the Public Affairs Champion of the Year award for his work to develop a unique emergency alert system for a city, helping the system advance an important franchise negotiation. Public Affairs Champion of the Year recognizes an individual outside the public affairs field who provides critical support to the function.
Public Affairs Professional of the Year
Kevin Moran, Director Public Affairs, of Cox's Arizona system receives the top individual award, Public Affairs Professional of the Year, for excellence in franchise negotiations.
