ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 2003--Cox Communications today announced that it has rolled out its High Definition Service to an additional nine markets since February. The company is now providing the service to 62% of its homes passed. The latest markets to begin offering High Definition Service from Cox are Orange County, Calif.; New Orleans, La.; Santa Barbara, Calif.; Wichita, Kan.; Tulsa, Okla.; Bakersfield, Calif.; North Carolina; New England; and the Ft. Walton Beach area of Gulf Coast Florida. Cox also offers its high definition service in Omaha, Neb.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Northern Va.; San Diego, Calif.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Cleveland, Ohio. By year-end, the company plans to offer High Definition Service from Cox to 85% of homes passed.

"Cox remains committed to providing our customers with the highest quality and best value in home video entertainment in our markets. We offer the broadest variety of high definition programming available in each of our markets, including content from HBO, Showtime, Discovery, ESPN, iN HD and the available local broadcasts from network affiliates like NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox," said David Pugliese, Cox's vice president of product marketing and management. "While satellite providers are only now getting around to offering standard local channels to customers in most of their markets, Cox is jumping way ahead in providing available high definition local broadcasts to customers."

In order to enjoy the revolutionary home theater experience that is high definition television, Cox customers need only own or purchase a high definition television or monitor. In most Cox markets, no additional equipment purchases are required, as customers may lease a high definition set-top box from Cox. With satellite providers, the upfront equipment purchase requirements to receive high definition television services can cost hundreds of dollars and often don't include local high definition programming.

"High Definition Service from Cox is a tremendous value for our customers," said Pugliese. "At Cox, we're living up to our brand, 'Your Friend in the Digital Age,' providing our customers with the absolute best in digital home entertainment."
