Maggie Bellville Resigns as EVP, Operations

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 2001--Maggie Bellville has resigned her position as Executive Vice President, Operations, at Cox Communications, Inc., effective February 2, 2001. The announcement was made by Jim Robbins, President and Chief Executive Officer.

In accepting her resignation, Mr. Robbins said, "Maggie was responsible for a number of positive cultural changes during her tenure here, including a more competitive mind-set and the addition of a robust sales component to our traditionally strong customer service orientation. She should be very proud of her work here, and I expect her influence will be felt for years to come. Maggie is a change agent at heart, and while we will miss her positive energy here at Cox, I understand her desire to move on to greater challenges."

Ms. Bellville will be succeeded by Patrick J. Esser as Executive Vice President, Operations. Mr. Esser was formerly Senior Vice President, Operations.

Ms. Bellville said, "I've accomplished what I set out to, and am ready to explore new challenges facing other organizations that are looking for a creative business approach, a mentoring leadership style and positive energy for success."

Ms. Bellville joined Cox in 1995 as Vice President of Operations for the Eastern region cable systems. In 1999, she was promoted to Executive Vice President, Operations, with responsibility for all cable systems and operating support functions, including marketing, customer support, customer care, research, advertising sales and commercial business services. While at Cox, Ms. Bellville helped develop and implement the company's entry into the telecommunications industry by overseeing the launch of high-speed data, digital video and residential telephony. She also has led the company's successful entry into commercial business services.

Ms. Bellville has been an active participant in cable industry associations, which has included board positions at Women in Cable and Telecommunications, CTAM and Cable Positive. In November 2000, Ms. Bellville's industry contributions were recognized when she was named Woman of the Year by Women in Cable and Telecommunications, one of the industry's highest honors. Last spring, Ms. Bellville graduated from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. She is planning to explore other opportunities in the broadband entertainment sector.
