ATLANTA – Cox Communications today announced the appointment of three additional officers to its executive team to help direct the emerging voice product strategy and development and ensure operational excellence.
Johannes Eckert joined Cox this year as vice president of communications technology. In this role, he is responsible for network and product development and engineering including design, development and implementation of communication networks, products and services for Cox Wireless, Cox Digital Telephone and Cox Business. Prior to joining Cox Communications, Johannes was a partner at Acta Wireless where he provided product and technology advisory services in the communications and high-tech industry. He has also held positions at A.T. Kearney and Andersen Consulting, as well as E-Plus Mobilfunk in Germany and BellSouth International. Eckert graduated from Technische Fachhochschule Berlin, Germany with a bachelor's and master's degrees in computer sciences and from Kennesaw State University with an MBA.
Philip Nutsugah joined Cox Communications in March 2006 and was recently promoted to vice president of voice strategy and product management. Nutsugah is responsible for the lifecycle management of Cox's voice product line and its evolution towards next generation communications services. Prior to joining Cox Communications, Nutsugah worked for Verizon Communications and GTE, where he led Verizon's first Fiber to the Home deployment in Northern Virginia as well as the launch of public Wi-Fi hotspots in New York City. Nutsugah holds a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of South Florida, Tampa.
Vic Syracuse recently joined Cox as vice president of production operations. He is responsible for the data center management, IT security and the overall operational excellence of Cox's IT systems. Syracuse brings more than 30 years of IT experience to Cox and most recently served as general manager and chief operations officer of the Financial Services division at First Data Corporation. He has also worked in senior positions at S1, Inc. and Check Free.
