OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Business announced today that it is providing an advanced data network to support OklaVision, a pioneering online network focused on the rich cultural and travel attractions located across the state of Oklahoma.
To create visual variety for its viewers, OklaVision regularly includes live footage and reporting from seven remote sites: Riverwind Casino, el National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma Aquarium, Tulsa Air and Space Museum and Planetarium, Myriad Botanical Gardens, Oklahoma History Center y POPS, a roadside stop along famous Route 66. These locations are equipped with Cox Business data network connections that allow real-time audio and video transmission.
OklaVision is presented by the Chickasaw Nation in partnership with the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department and is managed by Branded News, a subsidiary of Ackerman McQueen. The live show airs at noon daily online and on local Cox Cable channels in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
"OklaVision's viewers expect compelling content, beautiful images and seamless transitions from areas across the state," said Mike Dennehy, senior vice president and director of technology, Ackerman McQueen. "Cox Business designed a superior solution, including Ethernet data networking, which gives us better quality video, higher bandwidth and the ability to route traffic more efficiently."
Cox Business' comprehensive telecommunications solution for Ackerman McQueen includes advanced voice, Ethernet data networking and video at the company's studio and headquarters location.
Ethernet, the preferred emerging networking technology for businesses, provides higher bandwidth rates and lower costs per bit compared to legacy telecommunications services like Frame Relay and Private Lines - creating an opportunity for significant savings that can be allocated to additional network services or other parts of the organization.
"Cox Business has the local resources and broad product portfolio to assess and address the complex communications needs unique to each business," said Allen Roberts, vice president, Cox Business Oklahoma. "As a trusted provider, we work alongside our customers to inject operational efficiencies into their organizations."
Cox Business provides voice, data and video services for nearly 250,000 small and regional businesses, including healthcare providers, K-12 and higher education, financial institutions and federal, state and local government organizations. Según Vertical Systems Group, Cox Business is the fourth largest provider of business Ethernet services in the U.S. based on customer ports. Cox is currently the seventh largest voice service provider in the U.S. and supports more than 700,000 business phone lines.
