Cox Communications Ranked 21st on the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® List

ATLANTA, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications has been named to the 2010 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list for its demonstrated use of diversity best practices and measured results.  This is the direct result of Cox's unwavering commitment to improving the inclusiveness of its workplaces; its focus on delivering the best, most relevant services to its customers; its diversity leadership with vendors, and the company's dedication to communities it serves.

"Cox Communications has received many accolades over the years, but I take unique pride in the ongoing success of our diversity and inclusion efforts and the recognition we have received from  DiversityInc for the last five years," said Pat Esser, Cox's President who also leads the company's national employee Diversity & Inclusion Council. "At Cox, we have thoughtfully planned for the incorporation of diversity and inclusion practices and goals into our business priorities in order to ensure the future success of our company. Our company is enriched by the diversity of thinking in our workplaces, helping us to create and deliver better services and produce more satisfied customers who trust us to deliver their entertainment and communications services."

This is Cox's fifth year on the list and is the fourth consecutive year in which Cox has ranked in the top 25. In addition to its prestigious ranking in the DiversityInc Top 50, Cox has also earned diversity distinction for two consecutive years with a 100% rating in the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index. And, for seven straight years, Cox has been named the Best Operator for Women in the annual Women in Cable Telecommunications PAR Survey.

"Cox's President Pat Esser is a true diversity champion and a longtime diversity leader, and Mae Douglas, Chief People Officer, has worked hard to create an extremely inclusive workplace. They are both people I trust and value and they have created a company where employees trust and value each other," said Luke Visconti, chief Executive Officer of DiversityInc.

Four hundred forty nine companies participated in The 2010 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® ranking, an increase of 12 percent from last year. Now in its tenth year, the DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® List is the largest competition of its kind. The list is determined solely from a comprehensive survey of diversity management that measures CEO commitment, human capital, corporate communications and supplier diversity. Companies on the DiversityInc Top 50 have clarity of their absolute values of human dignity, demonstrating global adherence to these core beliefs.

"This list represents the businesses that treat diversity as an ethical, moral priority and a powerful business tool," said Visonti. "Far too many companies are way behind the curve and will find themselves in trouble in the next few years and decade. A diverse work force changes the character and the culture of a company. Thinking that diversity is merely a 'feel good' or politically correct strategy, without real impact, will find themselves on the wrong side of history."
