ATLANTA – The promotion of Jay Rolls to Senior Vice President of Technology for Cox Communications Inc. was announced today by Chris Bowick, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer.
Rolls will continue providing strategic direction for enterprise-wide engineering design, development and future technologies across all Cox product lines.
In making the announcement, Bowick said: "Jay is an excellent technologist with very strong interpersonal, business and communications skills. He has proven himself to be an outstanding technology leader through the years as I've intentionally given him increasing levels of responsibility and accountability. Jay has deftly merged three previously 'siloed' organizations into a well run technology development organization. He is well respected by his peers, both at Cox, and in the rest of the industry and is absolutely deserving of this promotion."
Rolls joined Cox in 1995 as Director of Multimedia Technology. He was promoted to Vice President of Data Engineering in 2001 and Vice President of Telephone & Data Engineering in 2003. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Technology where he oversaw technology engineering for all voice, video and Internet products. Prior to joining Cox, he served as Vice President of Network Engineering at Excite@Home.
A graduate of the University of Virginia, Rolls holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He earned a master's degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
