Cox Communications Tops Connecticut DPUC’s 2009 Consumer Scorecard
Company Ranks First among Phone Providers for Second Straight Year

Manchester, Conn. – April 21, 2010 - The 2009 Consumer Scorecard was issued this week by the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control, and for the second straight year Cox Communications ranked highest among all telephone providers in the state for its Cox Digital Telephone service.

“Customers have many choices for their communications service today, which makes customer satisfaction imperative to the success of our business,” said Paul Cronin, senior vice president and general manager. "Our place at the top of the 2009 Consumer Scorecard is a validation of our employees' commitment to delivering a consistently superior experience to our customers and to be their most trusted provider of communications and entertainment services."

The Consumer Scorecard ranks 44 of Connecticut’s utility and communications companies: three gas companies, three electric companies, seven telecommunications companies, 24 cable franchises and seven of Connecticut’s largest regulated water companies.

The Department received only 12 complaints regarding Cox Digital Telephone in 2009, reflecting less than 1 percent of its customers. Cox's 2009 score is 32 times as positive as in 2001, the first year the DPUC issued this report. Notably, Cox increased the number of Cox Digital Telephone customers by more than 475 percent over that same time period.

In the cable TV category, less than 1 percent of all customers reported complaints across the company’s three Connecticut cable service areas.
