Cox Communications to Feature Golf Channel 3D Weekend Coverage from Sony Open in Hawaii

ATLANTA - Cox Communications will provide its customers with an opportunity to experience Hawaii’s breathtaking panoramas in 3D with Golf Channel’s 3D telecast of the Sony Open in Hawaii, the first full-field tournament of the 2012 PGA TOUR season. Four-round coverage of the Sony Open in Hawaii will air on Golf Channel Thursday-Sunday, with 3D coverage airing Saturday and Sunday.

Golf Channel's 3D coverage of the Sony Open will air live in primetime on the East Coast, and will include competition from the back nine during the third and final rounds at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. The 3D telecast will be a separate production from Golf Channel's four-round coverage and will feature custom graphics and a dedicated team of commentators, including Brian Hammons (play-by-play), Curt Byrum (lead analyst) and Steve Sands (on-course reporter).  The coverage will offer images captured by eight of Sony's 3D-compatible professional cameras, located throughout the golf course in stationary and hand-held positions.
