ATLANTA – Cox’s chief content negotiator, Bob Wilson, will retire at the end of 2013, after more than three decades with the company.
When Wilson joined Cox in 1979, he was one of 45 employees at its Atlanta headquarters, supporting 500,000 customers, a small fraction of the company today. Wilson started as a business manager responsible for financial planning for new franchise operations, but spent 20 years negotiating carriage agreements for cable and broadcast networks.
"Change has been a constant throughout my career, driven by innovative technology and an increasing amount of available content," said Wilson. "I believe cable has a great product and a bright future and I've fought to protect the value of it for our customers. Despite some tough negotiations, the thing I will miss most is the relationships with programmers, peers, partners and colleagues."
