Cox Gets Personal with “Contour” Sub-Brand, “TV Just for Me”

ATLANTA – Cox Communications today announced the creation of Contour, a new sub-brand for its video product line. The new brand represents the most significant launch in the company's 50-year history since the introduction of the "bundle" in the 1990s. Highly intuitive and personalized for up to 8 users, the company said the change reflects the unique experience Contour delivers to its customers.

"This is a revolutionary change in the way we watch video," said Mark Greatrex, senior vice president and chief marketing and sales officer. "With Contour, customers are connected to their favorite shows through a   highly personalized experience - shaped by them, for them."

After extensive customer research, the company learned that that personalization was extremely important when watching TV - content discovery, DVR capability, user interface and off-TV access. Customers seek a personally engaging experience that taps into their personal passions and they want the flexibility to watch on the TV or tablet, live and On Demand.

Cox partnered with its brand and media agencies, Doner and MediaVest respectively, to create a campaign and introduce the new Contour offering as "TV just for me". Launching in August with three TV spots, the campaign was directed by advertising veteran Glenn Martin. Periscope developed creative assets for the company's retail stores as well as other social and digital components. Additionally, Periscope created the microsite, www.cox.com/contour which will serve as the information hub for customers to learn more about the product. DraftFCB worked to develop the customer acquisition and retention campaigns for Contour, as well as multiple components of the social media engagement strategy.
