BATON ROUGE, La., 26 de junio de 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications, in partnership with The Trust for Public Land, is accepting nominations for volunteers in Cox's service areas in Acadiana, Baton Rouge y New Orleans who are creating, preserving or enhancing outdoor spaces. A total of $15,000 will be donated to local environmental nonprofits on behalf of the winner and finalists.
A judging panel of civic and environmental leaders will select three finalists who will then compete to be named Louisiana's 2014 Cox Conserves Hero. The winner will be chosen through an online public vote.
Bart Everson y Jenga Mwendo son Louisiana's previous Cox Conserves Heroes. Everson's volunteer service has been critical in creating a rail-to-trail opportunity in the heart of New Orleans. The 3.1 mile trail links the French Quarter, Treme, Mid City and Lakeview to create a safe, non-motorized transportation route. Mwendo transformed an overgrown lot from a dumping ground into a beautiful centerpiece for the community.
The Cox Conserves Heroes program was created through a partnership between The Trust for Public Land and Cox Enterprises, the parent company of Cox Communications, to honor local conservation volunteers.
