Frank Capolupo Named Orange County's 2014 Cox Conserves Hero
$15,000 donated to environmental nonprofits in OC

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications y The Trust for Public Land announced Frank Capolupo como Orange County's 2014 Cox Conserves Hero. He was announced as the winner at an event held at the Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach. As part of the event, Cox employees volunteered to help cleanup and mulch trails. The Cox Conserves Heroes program recognizes volunteers for creating, preserving or enhancing outdoor spaces.

As his nonprofit of choice, Ocean Institute will receive $10,000. Capolupo brings educational tours to life for children, inspiring them to learn more about the ocean and how it impacts our lives. He also speaks at local clubs and organizations about the importance of environmental education and ocean awareness.

Each of the finalists will receive $2,500 for their nonprofit of choice. Evan Brown selected Earthroots, and George Sutherland selected the South Coast Chapter of Trout Unlimited.

The Cox Conserves Heroes program was created through a partnership between The Trust for Public Land and Cox Enterprises, the parent company of Cox Communications. The program is sponsored locally by KX 93.5. Since being launched in 2008, the Cox Conserves Heroes program has donated more than $400,000 to environmental nonprofits and recognized more than 130 volunteers.

The program takes place in Arizona (Phoenix y Tucson); California (Orange County, San Diego y Santa Barbara); Georgia (Atlanta); Louisiana (Acadiana, Baton Rouge y New Orleans); Virginia (Fairfax County/Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads y Roanoke); y Washington (Seattle).
