ATLANTA – Cox Business has exceeded the 200,000 business customer mark to lead all multiple system cable operators (MSOs) and achieve another significant milestone this year.
"Cox has completed voice service expansion to all of its markets and is now the seventh largest telecom provider in the U.S.; this creates a compelling bundle for business customers already familiar with Cox video and high-speed data products," said Mark Bowser, vice president, Cox Business. "We are pleased to serve each of our 200,000 business customers and expect Cox's award-winning customer service and innovative new products to continue to drive aggressive adoption rates in the coming year."
Last month, as part of its efforts to meet the growing needs of small, mid-sized and large businesses, Cox launched a feature-rich IP telephony platform that integrates the desktop phone, PC and wireless devices to provide customers with enhanced communications control, flexibility and functionality. Cox Business VoiceManagerSM is available today in Connecticut and Rhode Island and will aggressively expand to additional Cox markets the remainder of this year and in 2008. With the launch of this service, Cox Business became the first cable provider in North America to deploy a fully-owned and managed IP telephony service that addresses the needs of the broad business market.
The business-focused division of Cox Communications was formally launched in 2000 and first exceeded 100,000 customers in 2003. Cox Business continues to win businesses from competitors with a flexible portfolio of products and services that meets the needs of a broad market, including small businesses, multi-location enterprises, regional healthcare providers and local governments.
"Cox has a strong track record of telecom leadership as the first MSO to aggressively go after business customers," said Mark Winther, group vice president and general manager, worldwide telecom practice, IDC. "With more than 200,000 business customers, Cox leads all MSOs in this space and innovative products like IP-based Cox Business VoiceManager will allow the company to remain competitive in the broad business market."
Cox provides a full portfolio of voice, data and video services to business customers in Cox markets across the U.S. Earlier this year, Cox became the first MSO to enter the top tier of U.S. business Ethernet providers, according to Vertical System Group. In 2006, Cox Business received the highest honor in the J.D. Power and Associates Business Data Study for Small/Midsize Businesses.
