4TH ANNUAL COX CONNECTS DAY GIVES A BOOST TO BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS ACROSS AMERICA
More Than 1,000 Cox Employees Perform Nearly 5,000 Hours of Community Service
Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA – More than 1,000 Cox Communications employees and family members at locations across the country rose early on Saturday, October 6, 2007 and donated nearly 5,000 hours of volunteer service in their communities.  The employees worked in observance of the 4th Annual Cox Connects Day, the company's national day of service benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Cox Connects Day projects were tailored to the needs of 20 Boys & Girls Clubs that serve 20,000 children in Cox communities. Employees in Hampton Roads, Virginia; Cleveland, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Orange County, California painted and refurbished clubs. Cox volunteers in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana also wired computer stations, constructed bookshelves, built storage areas, and raised funds for the Club to purchase new exercise equipment. Cox personnel in Pensacola, Florida with an eye for design gave their Boys & Girls Club a makeover by renovating four rooms at the Club. Las Vegas, Nevada employees were also hands-on; they painted rooms, striped parking lots, landscaped, and installed cement walkways.

At Cox's headquarters in Atlanta, more than 220 employees donated 770 hours of community service.  Employees and their family members worked on a variety of projects including bench building, striping the football field, painting the center's basement and landscaping.

"We really appreciate the work of Cox employees and their families," said Missy Dugan, vice president of marketing and development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. "Cox is a great partner and friend to our clubs - both in its ongoing support as a technology sponsor and in the hundreds of key projects Cox volunteers completed for our clubs on Saturday. Cox Communications employees are great role models for volunteerism in corporate America."

Cox Connects Day is an extension of the company's technology partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. To help bridge the digital divide, Cox wires many local clubs and provides free or discounted high-speed Internet and cable services.  The company also makes cash and other in-kind contributions valued in the millions of dollars since the partnership began.

"Cox Connects Day is a great way for us to give back to the communities we serve, with guidance from Boys & Girls Clubs who have a rich history of helping American youth to overcome obstacles and achieve success," said Pat Esser, president of Cox Communications.  "As a technology sponsor, we've been involved with Boys & Girls Clubs for several years; we're proud to deepen this commitment with our volunteer hours, hard work and sweat on Cox Connects Day.  Our employees loved getting involved and making an impact."
