Cox Communications and Turner Bring High Definition Programming to Customers
Atlanta, GA

ATLANTA -- Cox Communications and Turner Networks announced an agreement today that will allow Cox to offer TBS in HD and CNN HD in Cox markets. "We are thrilled to complete this agreement for the addition of 2 more strong brands to our HD lineup, further fulfilling our promise to provide customers with a high-quality HD lineup," said Bob Wilson, senior vice president of Programming, Cox Communications. "As we continue to increase the value of our video service with more high definition channels and more On Demand Choices, customers will continue to count on Cox Digital Cable for the best value in our markets."

TBS in HD will offer viewers a stellar line-up of comedy that includes such exclusive programs as the TBS original series My Boys and The Bill Engvall Show, which are being shot in high-definition; first-run series like Tyler Perry's House of Payne, which recently set an ad-supported cable ratings record; hot contemporary sitcoms like The Office, Seinfeld, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond and Sex and the City; and highly rated comedy specials like World's Funniest Commercials. TBS in HD will be broadcast in 1080i 24 hours a day and use Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound across all TBS in HD programming. Additionally, TBS in HD will present all of its programming, including promotional content and commercials, in 16:9 wide-screen, giving viewers a consistent and more enjoyable viewing experience.

CNN HD will offer viewers the same content delivered on the core channel, but in striking high definition. Initially, CNN will produce all of its New York-based programs, select documentaries and special events, including Planet in Peril, and presidential debates, in high definition. CNN Worldwide's high-definition plans go beyond upgrades of studios and production centers to include significant equipment investments in the field to ensure that its journalists can gather news in high definition. Additional programs produced in high definition will include American Morning, CNN's new 8 p.m. program anchored by Campbell Brown, Lou Dobbs Tonight, Anderson Cooper 360º, Lou Dobbs Weekend, Your $$$$$ and Open House.

“We are pleased to partner with Cox Communications to further expand their HDTV package and enhance their customers' viewing experience with TBS and CNN's top-rated award-winning programming in an HD format,” said Coleman Breland, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Turner Network Sales (TNS).
